With our Capital Health food services certificate restored we are continuing to serve a hot meal to the Inner City homeless. The House of Refuge Mission is open daily from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for drop in, followed by the evening service from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. We are serviing a hot meal of soup and sandwiches after the service. People are coming in for coffee and juice, and to warm up. They need warm winter clothing, men’s and women’s jeans, sweaters and hoodies, as well as blankets and tarps because many of them are sleeping outside. For the evening services, the mission is in need of new microphones and a better sound system.
Following an election on November 21st. and the resignation of two previous board members, the mission currently has eight board members.
William Buck – President
Colin Chong – Vice President
Eva Reddekopp – Secretary/Treasurer
Sharol Penner – Director
Calvin Kennedy – Director
Linda Dumont – Director
Bob Vandergrift – Director
Kelly Simpson – Director

October 3, 2008 - Garth Soper with some help from Alan finishes the sealing of the Mission roof. He managed to find some time out of his busy schedule between digging holes in the ground to support buildings and making soup at the Mission to lay out 15 rolls of asphalt rolls onto the roof. We had purchased the material earlier in the summer but had been unable to find time to install. Way to go Garth!
